Ferrous chloride liquid

Ferrous Chloride Liquid also called Iron (II) chloride, Iron dichloride. It is an inorganic chemical in the form of an Aqueous Solution which is Deep Green in color with a molecular weight of 126.75. Its molecular formula is fecl2 and Cas no is 7758-94-3.it acts as an Effective reducing agent and also decomposes to fe203 at elevated temperatures in air. It also reacts with alkalis and alkaline earth carbonates shows typical reactions of ferrous salt. Iron dichloride liquid hydrolyses in water at a pH of 5.5 and above.

Benefits of using Ferrous Chloride for water purification

 

  • Ferrous chloride is used in effluent treatment as a Coagulant in textile processing units due to its high potency to get rid of color-suspended solids and toxic dissolved solids.
  • Ferrous chloride Reduces the cost of treatment without affecting the quality and clarity of treated water.
  • Ferrous chloride results in less formation of sludge in the lime treatment process.
  • It shows a higher reaction rate in comparison with ferrous sulphate.
  • Ferrous chloride Effluent treatment prevents the usage of acids used to get down ph.
  • Ferrous chloride is preferred for treated effluent purification in the Ro plant.

Ferrous Chloride Liquid Uses

  • Ferrous Chloride is used for removal of color in Common Effluent Treatment Plants.
  • Iron dichloride is used in the bi-chromate industry, to convert solid waste of high poisonous hexavalent chromium into trivalent chromium.
  • It is also used in the treatment of effluent from Distilleries and Breweries and reduces the BOD level from 3 lakhs to less than 100 ppm against the standard of 2500 ppm.
  • Effluent Treatment from dyeing and bleaching units – Ferrous Chloride oxidizes from Hypochlorite or from Hydrogen Peroxide in the presence of residual chlorine used for dyeing and bleaching.
  • Effluent Treatment from Leather Tanneries – During chrome tanning of leather, the chromate form of chromium goes into the effluent and by reduction of Ferrous Chloride turns into a trivalent form which precipitates out at pH 5.3 and above.
  • Effluent treatment from paper mills – Iron dichloride is used to reduce cod and bod and also for decolorization.
  • It is also used in Sewage Treatment of largely polluted canals, ponds, rivers, and lakes.
  • Ferrous chloride solution is useful as a flocculating and precipitating agent with reducing properties. It is specially essential for water treatment containing mercaptans and sulfides.

It is packed in Bulk in Tanker ,280/300 Kg in HDPE barrel and 50 Kg in HDPE Jerry can.
